Directions from the Belize Airport to Progresso: (62 miles total distance)
When you leave the airport parking lot you will need $3.50 in Belize coin to drop into the automated attendant to exit the lot. Usually the rental car company gives you this, but in the event that they do not, you will need to change up some money to exit. (While US ‘paper money’ is accepted everywhere, US coin is not recognized in Belize) Once you’re out of the compound, take the Airport service road to the end, this is the Northern Highway, turn left, heading north.
Five miles up the road is a police checkpoint, have seat belt on, or be subject to a fine ($50. Belize) – continue straight up the northern highway -Two miles up you will come to the turn off for the Old Northern Hwy – again, stay straight, (just mentioning signs for reference points).
Shortly you will come to Maxboro subdivision, marked by a set of BUMPS in the road
Two more miles to Sand hill Village and another set of BUMPS
15 minutes up the road you will pass the turn off to Crooked Tree Village – again, stay your course –straight ahead
17 miles later you come to the Village of Carmelita, there is a road BUMP here, now you are 1 ½ miles before the toll booth at the south end of Orange Walk.
The Toll house slows you down with a BUMP and charges you $ .75 belize – (live attendant- makes change)
1 -1/3 miles on your right – you’ll see the smoking stack of the Sugar Cane Factory
½ mile further and you are at the rotary – downtown Orange Walk is straight –
bear right here to come to Progresso, following signs to Corozal and Mexico.
3 miles ( & 2 big BUMPS) to the next rotary – once again bear right, sign says
San Estephan - ¼ down the road you will pass the cut off to Honey Camp Lagoon
1 more mile you’ll see Muffles College on your left
Continue into San Estephan – past the water tower and past the 1st street on your right
past the 2nd street on your right & the cemetery –
take the 3rd street on your right and follow this short street to the end
(there will be a school on your right and a hurricane shelter with the Lions Club logo’s in front of you)
go left here and immediately bear right by the shelter and continue to the end of the road. See a small store on the corner, with a red roof - go right here, this is the main road to Progresso.
5.7 miles later you will be at the turn off to Little Belize, Chunox and Sarteneja -
keep going straight – (you will see our sign on your right)
3 miles later you are entering Progresso – bear right at the fork (where you see a blue cement monument that sometimes says “welcome to Progresso” and a bus shelter) –
take your first street on the right - then take your first left – come around the curve and you see the Lagoon straight in front of you and our sign on the office building. Congratulations on your good direction skills and

this bus returns from the Freezone to Progresso – gets to the village late – around 9 pm
Hereida’s has a bus from Progresso to Little Belize every morning at 5:30 am – except Tuesday, when they leave at 5 am. They return from Little Belize back to Progresso at 2 pm
